Our final total for this fundraiser was $1195!
An update from Cindy @ MGPR: "One of the pregnant pigs delivered 5 babies on Mother's Day. All are still doing well. The other pregnant mother has not yet delivered, but would have to be close. Of the 22 pigs, there were two mothers with 7 babies.
Speaking of baby pigs, between the Culpeper pigs and another pregnant pig we had prior to obtaining them (who delivered 5 pigs), we have 17 guinea pigs under the age of 6 weeks - and the other Culpeper mom hasn't delivered yet. It will be two to three months before the males are neutered and three to four months before the females are big enough. We'll have Culpeper pigs with us for quite some time."
Cindy wanted to make sure that I thanked all of you for your generous support during this fundraiser. You guys really came through to help these piggies. I can't say thanks enough.

We've met our goal!
One day later on May 3rd we've now met our goal, gotten our matched donations and are at $880! Wow! Thank you to each and every one of you that donated and made this possible. I can't believe we made our goal in one week alone. We will continue to take donations for this drive for the next three weeks as the vet bills alone are expected to be around $2000 so every dollar helps. Thanks again for helping these piggies out and thanks to the people at MGPR for everything they do. :)
If you still haven't donated and can spare a dollar or two remember to click the paypal button two posts below and donate. Thanks!
Update: May 14th - $900!
Update: May 18th - $1160! Just a few days left for the fundraiser!

Our current donation totals:
UPDATE: As of May 2nd we've raised $165! Only $85 to go!
We've also has a second anonymous person offer to match donations as well! This multiplies our current total by 3! Thanks to everyone who has donated!
Lastly a message from one of the foster homes:
"I just wanted to share this adorable photo of one of the pregnant moms, Cupcake. Cupcake has been through a TON. She is at a very quiet foster home and really calming down."

The Culpeper Piggie Fundraising Challenge!
Hello everyone! I hope everyone is staying cool in the weather recently.
I'm posting because Metropolitan Guinea Pig Rescue [MGPR] (whom, I should say, I have no affiliation with) has recently been on the receiving end of a large guinea pig dump from Culpeper, Virginia. They have really pulled together to help out these sad little pigs which could have otherwise been euthanized.
Here is the story thus far:
"A woman from the Culpeper area had been dropping off groups of six pigs at a time to the Culpeper Animal Shelter. The 6 pig limit is the shelters' rule, that's why she was bringing in 6 at a time. Fortunately, after a few groups of six were dropped off, animal control offers were called in to investigate. When the officer arrived at the woman's house, it was determined that the living conditions of the 22 guinea pigs were such that it was warranted that the pigs be seized and brought to the shelter. The pigs were brought in one large filthy cage all crammed together, males and females and even days old babies in one group. " Many of these piggies are expected to be pregnant. Obviously, it goes without saying that this will be a huge strain on MGPR and all involved fosters.
What I'm hoping to do:
Seeing as GuineaPinny has inspired us all and has done so much for guinea pigs all across the world with her SponsorAGuineaPig project, I wanted to run a similar one-time-only benefit drive to help out with the costs involved in taking care of these 20+ piggies.
To get this rolling, I'll match every dollar donated (up to a max total of $250) over the next four weeks. Anything past $250 will be icing on the cake! My goal for this drive is $500 ($250 from the public and $250 matched from myself).
Again, I'm not affiliated with any of the involved rescues - I just wanted to try to do something because of the scale of this dump and to try to offset some of the potentially massive financial strains this dump might cause.
If you would like to donate a dollar or two, I'll be including MGPR's paypal in the next post (to save on paypal fees). I'll be asking them to keep me posted on the total and I will match the total at the end of the four weeks.
These donations will go a long way towards helping supply food, hay and medical care for this large batch of piggies who are now on their way to finding a new and better life.
---
Our overall goal is $500 over the next four weeks! ($250 from the public and $250 matched)
Keep an eye on this blog for donation totals and updates!
Also, please contact me if you are interested in adopting any of these little guys/gals. I can forward your information over to MGPR.
